Citrusly Lip Locked whilst stuck on Planet Puzzle League

Anne blogged this on June 30th, 2007

Citrus Mentha Minis Even when I still have a few Mentha Lip Tints lying around (some, shamefully never opened), I couldn’t resist picking up these Citrus Mentha Minis. I’m not too hot about the soda-flavored glosses, but I’m a sucker for citrus. Though the citrus flavors only come in minis, it’s a pretty cool little sampler. I just hope they come in regular tubes later on.

Back when it was known as Tetris Attack, this game consumed many of my days. And now that it’s been reincarneted for the Nintendo DS, I’m gonna have to schedule my time around it. Planet Puzzle League took a great puzzle game and made it even better with a ton more modes
and the ease of playing with the stylus. While I miss the cute Yoshi theme from Tetris Attack, the music and graphics in this reincarnation more than make up for it. I’m stupidly giddy over the cutesy car theme!

Garden-in-a-Pail

M blogged this on June 12th, 2007

Garden-in-a-PailWith my growing interest in gardening, this Garden-in-a-Pail by Potting Shed Creations totally caught my eye when it was mentioned in the June issue of Real Simple. I realize I can probably get everything it comes with for less than the $32 price tag, but for the moment I’m distracted by the shiny, all-in-one packaging.

The “kit” comes with a galvanized bucket (size not mentioned, but it looks to be about a gallon), gloves, soil, and seeds for basil, parsley, and garlic chives. There are also pails for mixed flowers, lavender, geraniums, and nasturtiums, all for $32 each. Less expensive varieties do exist, which gets you a smaller bucket, and a pencil and stake instead of the gloves.

Moleskine

Moleskine

For a so-called tree-hugger, I’m awfully conflicted sometimes. Not only do I work in an industry that kills a lot of trees and uses a lot gas, but I’m also completely obsessed and fascinated with paper. As far as journals and notebooks go, I’m infatuated with Moleskine. Sure, there are less expensive paper products out there. A quick walk past the journals in any Barnes and Nobles and you’ll find a TON of books to choose from, a few even look like Moleskine. But there are also more expensive ones that, in my humble opinion, just plain suck. (Yeah, I’m a paper snob.)

Plus, users refer to them as M, so by principle alone, these have to be my books of choice! Right?

My Moleskine collection currently includes:

  • A large ruled journal, which is used as a journal.
  • A pocket squared reporter’s notebook, which I use to jot down notes and stuff.
  • A couple of large ruled cahiers, which I haven’t really found a use for yet.
  • A London city notebook, for my upcoming trip to London.
  • A Dublin city notebook, for my upcoming trip to Dublin.

And if those weren’t enough, I just ordered six pocket ruled notebooks. They’re meant to replace the reporter’s notebook, which I’m not really fond of, I just didn’t anticipate buying six of them at once. (It was free shipping over $50, so at just under $9 a pop, I had to get six in order to qualify! I know full well that even with shipping, buying just one would have been a smaller purchase, but oh well.)

The scary part is … I’m not quite done. I have been thinking of a way to collect recipes, and card boxes and binders never really appealed to me, so … I was thinking “what if I take a large plain notebook and jot down recipes there?” Even better would be to use a separate book for each type of dish, like one for desserts, another for pasta, and maybe even side dishes. The possibilities are endless! (Too bad my cash reserves aren’t.)

Skivvies

M blogged this on May 15th, 2007

I know I haven’t been here in a while. Mostly it’s due to this overeager tree hugger in me and some new belief that I actually DON’T NEED to want or buy more things. While I’ve managed to curb most unnecessary purchases in the past few months, of course I still buy and want certain things. The great thing is that there are more and more products out that appease my inner hippie. Like that vegan bag and wallet I recently picked up at a local eco-friendly shop, which I’m absolutely in love with.

bamboo bikiniSo in keeping with the green theme, I was checking out some bamboo underwear at Shirts of Bamboo. I own a scarf and a pair of socks made of bamboo and they are FABULOUS! (Incidentally, the “wood” floors in our house are also bamboo.) So why not skivvies, right? Check it out: SoB has awesome-looking low-rise bikinis. These guys are made from a blend of materials, but I’m telling ya … bamboo clothing feels soooo good against the skin. If you like the feel of all-cotton or silk, I highly recommend finding some bamboo material to fondle. OK, so $24 for three pairs of undies isn’t exactly cheap, but frankly, I’m tired of throwing money at Vickie’s and I’m ready to take business elsewhere.

I Dream Of Bacon

Bryan blogged this on May 8th, 2007

This is Genius! An alarm clock with a built in bacon cooker. The alarm has been converted to cook bacon which results in waking up to bacon sounds and smells instead of the sound of the buzzer or beeping or whatever auditory alarm. Although this is a concept product, I still would like to try some product testing of this. Because two things I enjoy are sleeping and bacon. With this I could really dream of bacon then when I woke up I could eat my dream.

“Paddy” Chair Makes Me Go Crazy!

Paddy Chair

I’m not the kind of person who really craves any furniture or permanent artifacts for everyday living because: A) I live in a apartment B) Can’t afford anything C) I live in a apartment. But I’m going through my bookmarks and remeber saving this interesting chair. The “Paddy Chair” is a design from Nick Melville. A designer based in London who really entices me to sit and be crazy in the “Paddy Chair”. If only I could get one in orange with a matching straitjacket I would be set.
